Hey girl hey! We are headed into Fall and I'm here for it. It's Virgo season and this week I'll be turning the big 30. I'm having a little Fall potluck to celebrate. This week I'll also be turning 30 weeks prego so the countdown is on. There's so much I'm grateful for right now.
I got my Fall porch decor up and it warms my soul every time I walk into my home. My safari nursery is almost done, just adding the last few finishing touches to it and then I'll do a reveal. We've also been getting ourselves ready for baby girls arrival in mid-Nov. We met with our postpartum doula last week and will meet with our doula this week. I also just booked a newborn photographer too. This month and next month I'll be focusing on nesting and educating myself about birth, postpartum, and breastfeeding.
Today I want to dive in a little bit more about a topic I brought up last week, combing your locs. I've been trying it for about a month and I'm in love with how easy it is to detangle my hair. I'm also sharing one of my favorite Fall recipes. Let's get into it!

I made this delicious, cozy, Fall soup and it did not disappoint. It was exactly what I needed to bring in this cooler weather. What really did it for me was the crispy guyere toasts dipped into the soup. Mmm chefs kiss! You HAVE to try it this Fall. Super easy to make too.

Note: I used my Vitamix Blender to blend the soup up. It's a really powerful blender and it blends everything up very quickly. I've had mine for 5 years and it still works well.
FAQs About Combing Sisterlocks
I didn’t even know you comb them!
Yes! But I would only do it once the locs have been matured for a while. I wouldn't recommend combing locs if your locs are not matured yet.
Why should you need to use a comb?
Combing locs is best for people who have gotten to that stage where their locs are matured, their locs have gotten long, and their locs are starting to get detangled. Often times when you put your locs in a bun, a ponytail, an updo, or any kind of style, your locs get tangled. You can certainly use your fingers to detangle them and comb through your locs with your fingers. But many people say that it messes up their nails when they do that because it irritates their cuticles when running their fingers through their hair. So using a comb to detangle your locs is a great way to detangle without messing up your nails.
What are the benefits of using a comb?
Should you also brush your locs?
I have heard of people brushing their locs mainly to help get rid of lint, not so much for detangling purposes. I personally have not brushed my locs before but I know of people who have. I would just recommend using a softer brush to make sure you're not causing any damage to your locs. Also, I wouldn't brush daily, but maybe every so often, like after you get a retie or something. I definitely don't have a ton of knowledge on brushing, so ask your loctician or another locked sista who does brush their locs so you can continue to educate yourself on it to see if it's something you want to add into your routine.
Should you spray water on your locs before combing?
You can, I'm sure that will help the comb glide through the hair better. But you can also comb your locs dry, which is what I have been doing. I will definitely try out combing after spraying my hair with water to see what the difference is.
So what do you think? Team comb or Team finger detangle?
Let's talk about it. Send me a REPLY to this email or a DM on IG.
If you are leaning more towards team comb, here are a few wide tooth loc-friendly combs you can try out:
