Hey girl hey! How was your weekend? Mine was eventful! You might have seen on IG stories/reels that I went to an Estée Lauder Beauty Event at Macy's. They loaded me up with some new skincare and makeup products to try. I'll be sharing my thoughts about them with you soon! I also went to the Indiana Motor Speedway for the first time since living here in Indiana. It was incredible and huge! I see why it's such a big deal. Last week I shared a sisterlock bun tutorial on IG and Tik Tok and yall loved it! So I'm going to share more about it and answer some questions I received. Also, I have new things to share so keep reading to the end so you don't miss them. Enjoy!
Talk Soon,
Are you tired of struggling to achieve the perfect Sisterlock bun? Look no further! I'm sharing the secret to achieving a perfectly round Sisterlock bun, and it's simpler than you may think.
The secret? Use a hair net! By placing a hair net over your bun, you can easily mold your locks into a perfectly round shape. This technique not only helps you achieve the perfect bun, but it also helps keep your locks in place throughout the day.
To achieve the perfect Sisterlock bun using a hair net, follow these simple steps:
For a quick video tutorial on achieving the perfect loc bun using a hair net, check out my IG Reels tutorial here.
Where did you get your hair net from?
I got a bundle pack of 100 hair nets from Amazon. They have lasted me over 2 years now and I still have a ton left. You can grab a pack here.
I want that bun! Do you have a video?
I have a quick tutorial on IG and Tik Tok. Tik Tok has the version with an actual voiceover walkthrough if you need more guidance.
My locs aren't long enough to put them in a bun.
Even if you have short locs, you still might be able to achieve a smaller bun. It might not be as large as my bun just yet, but with time it will get there. For those with shorter locs, you definitely want to invest in a strong and flexible hair tie. I highly recommend using the Bunzee Band. I have been using it since year 2 in my sisterlock journey and it has grown with me ever since my locs were short all the way to the length I'm at now.
You also might need to use extra bobby pins to reinforce the shorter locs that might not fit all the way into your ponytail. You can also tuck them in. If too much of your hair doesn't make it up into your ponytail, consider trying a lower bun instead of a high bun. You can also try doing two mickey mouse buns also.
I have done all types of buns throughout my sisterlock journey and they have evolved into the now super jumbo bun. So what I mean is, I didn't always start off with a huge bun, I've had mini buns along the way too and so can you. You can use hair nets on your mini buns, you just might have to wrap the hair net around the bun a few more times, but it will work. If you're still having trouble, reply to this email.
Can you use a hair net on bigger locs like traditional locs?
Yes, you can do buns on almost all locs. Give it a try.
Can a hair net be used as part of a style?
Hair nets can be used on styles to help smooth out the look of locs. So any type of style that requires a bun or multiple buns can benefit from incorporating hair nets. For example, a high bun, a low bun, side bun, two mini buns, a mohawk with buns, a high bun with the rest of the hair out, etc.
Buns hurt my scalp.
What type of hair tie are you using? That really makes a difference. I only use Bunzee Bands and they never hurt my head or give me a headache. Once you find a good hair tie, the bun should not hurt.
My hair density don’t want my bun to be great.
If your hair is really thick, and your bun is too large, try splitting it into two buns. If your hair is really thin, you can try adding extra fake hair to the middle of your bun to make it appear thicker.
Can you do a loc bun on 3 week old locs?
You should be able to, just be careful with the placement of your bobby pins as you don't want to accidentally damage one of your locs. If you are not certain about doing a bun, always ask your sisterlocktician just to double check if they think it's okay for your hair specifically.
Can you do a loc bun on microlocks?
Yes! Sisterlocks and microlocks are very similar in appearance, so I'd imagine you would get a similar bun look.
Some of you were asking where did I get my hair nets. I bought mine online because I didn't feel like trying to find them at the store. For those who are lazy like me, I'm linking them below. Comes in a pack of 100.
